🌿 Care Guide

Watering

Requires regular watering, ideally at the soil level to avoid foliage diseases; about 1 inch of water per week is recommended, allowing the top few inches of soil to dry between waterings.

Fertilizer

Apply a general rose or shrub fertilizer in early spring and again in early summer. Some guides suggest liquid fertilizer twice a month during the growing season and a slow-release fertilizer in late fall.

Pruning

During the first 2-3 seasons, remove only dead or damaged canes. After that, prune annually in early spring before buds appear to promote new growth; can be cut back by 1/3rd each year to prevent legginess. Deadheading spent blooms throughout the season helps speed up reblooming.

Pests & Diseases

Susceptible to blackspot, mildew, rust, aphids, rose leafhopper, glasshouse red spider mite, scale insects, caterpillars, and various sawfly species.
